NIA team off to Manipur
The Telegraph | New Delhi, June 6:
The director of the National Investigation Agency, Sharad Kumar, today formed a special team comprising six senior officials to probe the killing of 18 soldiers in Manipur's Chandel district. Sources in the agency said the team would investigate if local informers had provided logistical support to the militant groups and if there had been any intelligence failure.
"We have registered an FIR tonight into the killings of soldiers in Manipur. Our team will leave for Manipur tomorrow morning," the NIA director told The Telegraph. "Our team will visit the spot and also nearby villages to ascertain whether local informers had provided logistic support to the militant groups," said a senior official who is part of the special team.
