NIA hints at incendiary weapons use
- Calcutta forensic team collects evidence from Chandel ambush site
The Telegraph | Khelen Thokchom | Imphal, June 17:
"The NIA is trying find out the kind of weapons used by the insurgents during the attack. We believe some incendiary materials were used. This is evident from the burnt trucks and bodies," an army officer said.
Army sources said such damaging attacks in Manipur were unprecedented. A charred body, believed to be of a soldier with a bone protruding from it was found inside one of the trucks that were pulled back from the ambush site and grounded at the deserted Paraolon village, when mediapersons visited the area yesterday.
"Without incendiary materials, the damage could not have been so extensive," the officer said.
