NE students seeking admissions asked to be wary
Nagaland Post | New Delhi, Oct 25 (NPN)
Students’ from the North Eastern states who opt to study outside the region, heading to metro cities, have been asked to be cautious about fake institutions/universities that have flourished over the years. Asking students to remain alert against being entrapped by fake institution, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has published a list of 22 fake universities. Out of these five are based in Delhi and nine in Uttar Pradesh.
Most of the NE students have been duped by being provided admissions into such non-recognized institutes. In many cases, students were harassed and no refunds made. The institutes also put up attractive advertisements where students get carried away. IGP & Nodal officer for NE people in Delhi, Robin Hibu said “even now some fake universities/colleges are giving out admissions”. “They are rushing in to North East states and luring ignorant students with admissions at hefty fees,” he added.
