- Six luminaries from region get awards

Six eminent personalities from the Northeast were presented the Padma awards today at a civil investiture ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Shillong Chamber Choir founder Neil Herbert Nongkynrih was bestowed with Padma Shri along with Lakshmi Nandan Bora (literature and education) from Assam, Sarungbam Bimola Kumari Devi (medicine) from Manipur, Jadav Molai Payeng (forest activist) from Assam and H. Thegtse Rinpoche (social work) from Arunachal Pradesh.
