Myanmar minister bats for stronger trade ties with Northeast

Attaching much importance to the fact that Northeast insurgent outfits are not able to ensconce in Burmese territory, the chief minister of Myanmar’s Sagaing region U Tha Aye said that Myanmar would not permit its territory to be used by any (hostile) insurgents groups.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the 8th North East Business Summit in New Delhi, U Tha declined to comment when asked if the Myanmar junta was harbouring Northeast insurgents, the bordering region’s chief minister said: “This matter is strictly military in nature and I am not authorised to comment on it,”ť he however, added in the same breadth that Myanmar shares a ‘friendly’ relations with its larger neighbour and “we will not allow such activities on our soil.”
