Myanmar border stretch frequently used by militants identified
Assam Tribune | R Dutta Choudhury | Guwahati, Jan 20
Security agencies have identified all the vulnerable stretches along the international border in Myanmar and one particular stretch of around 35 km in Arunachal Pradesh, most frequently used by militants from their bases in the neighbouring country, has been found to be the most vulnerable. Highly placed security sources told The Assam Tribune that the militants now mostly use the Myanmar-Arunachal Pradesh border to sneak into the India from their bases in the neighbouring country and the stretch between border pillars 171 and 172, which is around 35 km, is considered the most vulnerable stretch.
Sources said that with the Republic Day approaching, militant outfits are desperate to make their presence felt through acts of violence, while on the other hand, the security forces and the police are making all-out efforts to foil such designs of these militant groups.
