- Moreh trader released after questioning by NCB sleuths
The Telegraph | Imphal, July 22:
The sleuths of Narcotic Control Bureau, Imphal, released a Moreh-based businessman, after questioning him on his suspected involvement in drug smuggling, on Thursday evening.
John Kennedy, an associate of a prominent businessman based in the border town of Moreh, Verraya Shekhar, who is now in custody of Raipur police in connection with a murder case, was picked up on July 20 from Imphal airport
The details of the case in which Shekhar has been charged with involvement are not available with the state police here.
“We picked up John Kennedy on suspicion of involvement in drug smuggling. We questioned him, but released him yesterday evening as we could not find any concrete evidence against him during the interrogation,” an NCB official said. He added that no case was registered against Kennedy, who is also a resident of Moreh.
While Kennedy was in detention, sleuths of the NCB searched his rented room at Major Khul of Imphal city. But they found no incriminating material.
