The Telegraph | Rining Lyngdoh | Shillong, Jan. 2:
Development of the Northeast while taking care of the "sensitive, inaccessible and peculiar problems" of each of the eight states of the region is a priority for the Centre, DoNER minister Jitendra Singh said here today. Singh was speaking after the 63rd plenary meeting of the North Eastern Council (NEC), headquartered here. The plenary meeting was held after a gap of 10 years.
Singh said the Centre aimed to empower the youth of the region by generating job opportunities and focusing on higher education to stem the huge exodus from the Northeast to various parts of the country.
