K. Tomba Singh claimed the Men’s Singles title of the 2nd State Open Squash Championship, 2011 played at Officer’s Club Lamphelpat. In the final match, Tomba Singh overcame T. Brojen Singh by 3-1 games for the champion’s title. Brojen Singh put up a tough fight in the first game as he defeated K. Tomba Singh by 11-5 points.
In the Women’s Open final, Ksh. Noacha Devi upset Ksh. Rebika Devi by 3-2 games. Naocha Devi won the first game 11-9 but Rebika Devi staged a comeback taking the second and third game 12-10, 11-7.
Coaches take up cudgels
Coaches and players today protested at Khuman Lampak stadium demanding relocation of the office of the Autonomous District Council in the Khuman Lampak Sports Complex for a free sporting environment.
The protesters, comprising coaches of Youth Affairs & Sports with SAI and National Sports Academy coaches and students had gathered at Khuman Lampak indoor stadium before embarking on their ‘cleansing’ mission.
