Manipur people take Myanmar road after bridge damaged by flood
Nagaland Post | Imphal, Dec. 20:
Failing to repair a bridge, Manipur people at the Indo-Myanmar border are taking the road in Myanmar to connect with other parts of the country for the last around six months. In the devastated July flood had not only claimed around 20 lives, many bridges and roads across the state, particularly in Thoubal and Chandel districts. Most of the damaged bridges were the lifeline of several villages in interior Chandel district, bordering with Myanmar.
Among the bridges that were damaged was the bridge on Minal river, the only means of connecting the people of some villages within Haollenphai area near the international border with other parts of the state. Haollenphai, located right on the Indo-Myanmar border, is about three km from Moreh, Manipur’s border town at the international border with Myanmar.
