Manipur govt fails to rehabilitate children
Nagaland Post | Imphal, July 26 (NPN)
Authority in Manipur’s Tamenglong failed to keep the promise they had made for rehabilitation of children who were rescued from various unregistered children homes in South India in the last two years.
Out of 246 children trafficked in South Indian states, 81 of them were from Tamenglong district including 20 girls still under the care of Indigenous Women and Children Foundation (IWCF), an NGO based at Tamenglong district headquarter.
An official of IWCF said the district administration has assured to assist the rescued children to rehabilitate them but no action was taken for the last two years. “IWCF is still hoping that the administration would assist the poor and needy,” she added.
