Manipur footballers earn huge sums in ISL auction

A group of first-rate footballers from Manipur made big bucks overnight after the second edition of the Indian Super League (ISL) player auction.
The auction, held in Mumbai a few days ago, saw Indian captain Sunil Chhetri take home a whopping Rs 1.55 crore. ISL franchise Mumbai City FC paid Chhetri's base amount of Rs 80 lakh, while his I-League club, Bengaluru FC, cleared the balance of Rs 75 lakh.
Among other northeast ern footballers who hit pay dirt with the ISL auction were Meghalaya's Eugeneson Lyngdoh( Rs 1.05 crore) and Manipur players — Thoi Singh (Rs 86 lakh), Satyasen Singh (Rs 56 lakh) and Jackichand Singh (Rs 45 lakh).
