Governor’s Trophy Tennis Championship
H. Bechkar Singh made it to the quarter-final of the under-14 boys’ event of the IX Governor’s Trophy Tennis Championship at Officers’ Club Lamphelpat. In the under-14 girls’, Bunty Devi thrashed O. Monika Devi 4-1, 4-1 to book a quarter-final berth. In the under-12 boys’ event, Musha Singh overcame Vikash Singh with a score of 4-2 and 5-4 (7-4) to storm into the quarter-final.
Veteran football iddim Road Veteran Sporting Association beat Utlou Luksa by 2-1 goals in the 1st Ng. Shamu Memorial Veteran Football Tournament at Mlaom YWC ground. In another match, Kongpal ISVA blanked Lilong Chajing UVSA by two goals with Bochou Singh and Nongyailemba fetching the goal.
Y. Nilamani Memorial Open Chess
Ningthem Singh took the sole lead, collecting 4.5 points in the 16th Y. Nilamani Memorial Open Chess Tournament at Singjamei in Imphal West. Top seed Rk. Apollosana Singh beat rated player Premjit Singh to gain full points. He tallied four points. Rk. Bhogen Singh, H. Jacky Singh, Dangmei Bosco and N. Kishen Singh also have four points each.
