MHA invited for talks with Manipur govt and UNC
Nagaland Post | Imphal, Jun 22:
Manipur government Wednesday has invited two officials of the Union ministry of Home Affairs for the talks between Manipur government and United Naga Council (UNC) on June 30. Joint secretary (NE in-charge) Shambhu Singh and under secretary (internal security) UK Bansal have been invited to participate in the scheduled talk which would be a “bilateral” one, an official source said.
Government spokesperson and IFCD N Biren Singh, on late Tuesday, said the talks will be a bilateral one as the Union government will only facilitate the meetings and take part as observer. Government during the meeting will hear the UNC’s demands, and as a guardian of the people, since UNC is a civil organization the state and government considered to hear and address their demands in the interest of the state, he maintained.
State chief secretary DS Poonia and commissioner (home) LP Gonmei would hold talks with UNC leaders. The cabinet meeting on late Tuesday had decided to send DS Poonia and LP Gonmei for the talks at Senapati district headquarter.
