MCDA initiates to avail life saving drugs in Manipur
Nagaland Post | Imphal, Sept 23
A 13-member team of the Manipur Chemists and Druggists’ Association (MCDA) would leave Imphal for New Delhi and Mumbai to convince the drug manufacturing companies on measures being taken up by Manipur government for the safe passage of life saving drugs to the state through the NH-53.
The step was taken up by MCDA after the companies warned of stopping to send life saving drugs to Manipur after two freight trucks ferrying life saving drugs were burnt down by armed miscreants apparently in support of UNC sponsored counter blockade on the national highways on September 15 last, MCDA general secretary RK Ratankumar said.
The MCDA claimed destruction of medicines worth `2.3 crore in the arson act. In the aftermath of the incident, transportation of life saving drugs into the state has stopped which led to the apprehension of state facing an acute shortage of these drugs.
