Khaplang's expulsion a step forward: GPRN/NSCN
Nagaland Post | DIMAPUR, JUN 23 (NPN):
MIP Thursday said the over 60-year old Naga struggle was an expression of Naga people’s “anger against forceful occupation and division of their beloved homeland” and described it as “a blueprint of democratic tradition constantly at work within” that evolved through its national assembly (Tatar Hoho). It said GPRN/NSCN “is living legacy” of great Naga revolutionaries “who preached and practiced democratic principles” by convening the assembly whose decision was final when there was need for cease fire, bilateral talks or change in leadership.
It advised Nagas not to be confused by the opinion of “P.Tihak, a Khasi” and former general secretary of Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC) acting as Khaplang’s spokesman. It said an impeached leader has no moral authority to issue any statement to the Nagas and also declared “null and void” Khaplang’s appointment of military officers to various posts through Tihak’s statement on June 22.
To avoid confusion, MIP clarified “the party is NSCN and the government GPRN” and nomenclature ‘GPRN/NSCN’. It said GPRN/NSCN chairman ‘Gen’Khole and general secretary N. Kitovi Zhimomi assure Nagas that except those few expelled, the Naga army and civil authorities both in eastern and western Nagaland were intact and functioning normally. There was never a split but only removal of Khaplang “a self righteous leader” and an obstacle to Naga reconciliation and peace among Nagas, it said.
