January date for 24x7 power supply in Imphal
The Telegraph | Khelen Thokchom | Imphal, Dec 29 -
The Manipur State Power Distribution Company Ltd has set January as the target for making Imphal a model town with 24x7 power supply. The company has been working overtime to meet the target. "We are working on making Greater Imphal a model area where 24x7 power supply is available. Our plan is to replicate Imphal's success to other towns and beyond across the state," an official of the company told The Telegraph.
The company set the target after being encouraged by the success of improving the power situation drastically especially after pre-paid power meter was introduced in the city last year. The company has at present estimated that the 1.5 lakh pre-paid meters would be required for uninterrupted power supply to every household. Of 1.2 lakh pre-paid meters installed so far in Manipur 70,000 such meters were installed in Imphal alone.
