JAC seeks clarification on NSCN (I-M) court order

Joint Action Committee (JAC) on May 27 incident, comprising of representatives of various Naga women tribal organizations, has revealed that it received an official communication from the chief principal secretary of the NSCN/GPRN (I-M) disclosing that the “military tribunal court order” on July1, 2011 declared one of the accused in NSCN (I-M) custody ‘lance corporal’ Ngalengshang Chahongnao guilty on several counts in the assassination attempt on Imtila on May 27.
In a press statement, JAC said its meeting held on July 30, while acknowledging the receipt of the above letter dispatched on the morning of July 30; sought clarification on how it the order was passed on July 1,2011.
JAC pointed out that on July 22, 2011 when its delegation met with the collective leadership of the NSCN/GPRN (I-M) at New Delhi, they were informed that the co-accused ‘lance corporal’ Ngalengshang Chahnongnao “was innocent” and were informed of a fresh inquiry on the matter. JAC said while taking cognizance of the reason cited by NSCN/GPRN for not being able to arrest the prime accused, it resolved to impress upon authority to arrest the culprit at the earliest. Meanwhile, JAC also forwarded the court order dated July 1; it received on July 30 from the chief principal secretary NSCN/GPRN.
