Iftar with locals at Lilong on 14th June, 2017
Living up to the spirit of Ramzan, 5 JAK RIF of 9 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR(South) conducted an Iftar Party on 14 June 2017. Iftar is one of the religious observances of Ramzan and is often done as a community, with people gathering to break their fast together.
Iftar marks the end of fast by practicing Muslims who abstain from food, water and sensual pleasure from sunrise to sunset. Approx 270 people including village elders, Maulvis of local Mosque attended the celebration at Lilong. A sumptuous feast was also organized on the occasion.
Many civil dignitaries of the area attended the function and exchanged good wishes with all present. Company Commander of 5 JAK RIF greeted the gathering and reiterated the commitment of Assam Rifles towards the security, peacekeeping and general welfare of the people of Manipur. This initiative was highly appreciated by locals.
