Chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh said that his government was considering allotting resettlement and rehabilitation programme to those residents whose houses at Naga river colony here would be evicted for setting up a proposed five-star hotel.
The hotel is to be upgraded from the existing state-run Hotel Imphal located close to the colony that houses around 30 families. "We are thinking to take up the resettlement and rehabilitation programme somewhere near Don Bosco School at Chingmeirong or Mantripukhri in Imphal," Ibobi Singh said at a media conference at his office here on Saturday evening.
The government will compensate all properties at the area covering 1.5 acres, he said even as the colony residents belonging to different ethnic groups have intensified their stir, demanding the government to revoke its order to evict their houses.
