Times of India | TNN | Jun 7, 2011, 06.32pm IST
On Monday night, the government dismantled pandals and removed posters and banners readied by the Manipur unit of the Pantanjali Jog Samiti at Singjamei in Imphal West district. Its members were planning to stage the relay hunger strike from Tuesday morning. "We strongly condemn the police action. We will decide our stir plan against corruption after holding a meeting," said the Samiti's state unit president, M Binodkumar Singh.
Responding to Ramdev's fast in New Delhi and his nationwide anti-corruption protest call, about 30 samiti members began a similar agitation at Singjamei Bazaar in Imphal West from Saturday morning till the yoga guru and his followers were evicted by police. "Fifteen members will kick off the relay hunger strike on Tuesday which will be followed by another group of women members the day after," added Binodkumar. He said more and more people from the state have come out to join the agitation against corruption.
