Hopes, fears on accord

There is apprehension in Nagaland that the accord signed between the NSCN (I-M) and the Centre on August 3 would lead to divisions and violence in Naga society. Naga organisations, the Church and politicians have welcomed the pact with guarded optimism.
"Why are the Government of India and NSCN (I-M) keeping us in dark?" questioned Kanito Assumi, a post-graduate student. Some people have also questioned whether the accord would benefit Nagas of Manipur at the cost of people of Nagaland. "A solution should not be only for Muivah. It should be inclusive," said Vincent Belho, a social activist
