Imphal/Kpi, September 30 2017: Social Welfare Minister Nemcha Kipgen today feted Hoikim Chongloi, who bagged the gold medal in the recently held 10th Open National Taekwondo Championship 2017, on her arrival at Tulihal International Airport, Imphal . Nemcha Kipgen congratulated Hoikim, a resident of Haijang in Kangpokpi district, and expressed happiness with her achievement.
She said, “Manipur is indeed the power house of sports in India . Hoikim’s achievement will surely set an example for all the upcoming girls in the field of sports, especially those in the hilly and far flung areas, that hardwork and determination will surely bring laurels to the State” .
She hailed Olympic bronze medallist, Mary Kom who is also from the tribal community and expressed hope that Hoikim will also shine internationally in the near future and assured all possible help from her end .
Hoikim, who represented Manipur, won the gold medal in 53 kg category in the championship held at Jammu and Kashmir.
Manipur also emerged team champions in the this championship . So far, she has bagged 2 gold medals, 4 silver medals and 7 bronze medals at National level events .Later family members, fans, near and dear ones particularly from Kangpokpi district rolled out the red carpet reception for the champion today .
The welcome was organised by Kuki Students’ Organization, Sadar Hills, Kangpokpi Town Committee, KWWO and KYU . At Kangpokpi, hundreds of fans gave her a rousing reception in the presence of ADC Sadar Hills Vice Chairman, Thangjakam Misao, 38 Assam Rifles Kangpokpi Post Commander, Major Syed Irfan and Church leaders, village chiefs .
It is time for celebrations not only for the underdeveloped village of Haijang, but for the entire Kuki community, to which Hathoikim Chongloi belongs and others communities in the district who are proud of her achievements . The gold medallist and her supporters, fans, family, relatives were seen waiting for the rain to stop at one corner of IT Road and later Hathoikim Chongloi was seen climbing up over a Shaktiman (truck), which is the only motorable vehicle to her home village.

Imphal, September 30 2017: Miss Hathoikim alies Hoikim Chongloi, who bagged Gold Medal at The 10th Open National Taekwondo Championship 2017 held recently at Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir was today felicitated by Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Smt Nemcha Kipgen on her arrival at Tulihal International Airport, Imphal.
Addressing the media, Minster Nemcha congratulated Hoikim and expressed extreme happiness on her achievement. She asserted that Manipur is indeed the powerhouse of sports in India.
Hoikim's achievement will set as an example for all the upcoming girls in the field of sports, especially those in the hilly and far flung areas, that hardwork and determination will surely bring laurels for the state.
Social Welfare Minister and also the Local MLA, Nemcha believes that like Olympic Bronze Medallist, Mary Kom who is also from the Tribal community, Hoikim will also shines internationally in the near future and assured all possible assistance from her end.
So far, Hathoikim alias Hoikim Chongloi have bagged two (2) Gold Medals, four(4) Silver Medals and Seven (7) Bronze Medals in 53/55 Kgs category in the National level. She hails from Haijang, Kangpokpi District.
