HC asks state to hand over court employee assault case to CBI
The Times of India | TNN Aug 12, 2011, 11.05PM IST
The Imphal bench of Gauhati high court on Friday asked the state to hand over an alleged case of assault of a staff of the court by police to the CBI. This followed a writ petition filed by the president of the High Court Bar Association, Manipur and the victim, Md Abdul Salam (21), an attendant of the association.
Though a complaint was lodged by the victim on June 10, police did not register a case immediately. The functioning of the court was also paralyzed for several days as members of the bar association protested against the police inaction. Police detained him without any reason, the dossiers said.
The case was put up for the decision as to whether or not the current FIR later lodged by the police should be handed over to the CBI.
