Focus on North-East textiles

Speaking at the ongoing buyer-seller meet on textiles here, M. Choudhury, officer-in charge of the regional office of textile commissioner, Calcutta, said the ministry is very eager to extend all possible support for the development of powerlooms in the region, right from planning to execution.
Sources said the response from the Northeast to textile ministry schemes has not been good and various offices under the ministry are now trying their level best to get more response from these states. The buyer-seller meet is being jointly organised by the regional office of the textile commissioner, Calcutta, ministry of textiles, and Indian Jute Industries Research Association, Powerloom Service Centre, Guwahati. The meet, which began yesterday, will conclude on Monday.
