"We should make all-out efforts to bridge the gap among communities and promote mutual understanding between them. At the same time, civic groups should play a proactive role in pressing the government to uphold the rule of law. The last 30 years in India has seen increased violence against various religious minorities with the rise of religious nationalism and politics in the country," Puniyani said.
Social activist and former professor of IIT, Powai, Ram Puniyani said communal and ethnic violence in the northeast has become a matter of serious concern in upholding the democratic values of society.
