Fake guidebooks for TET flood market
Times of India | Susmita Rakshit, TNN | Jul 31, 2011, 11.13AM IST
While on the one hand the state government is trying to reform the education system by introducing eligibility test for teachers, fake guidebooks have flooded the market leaving the teaching community confused about what to rely on: the suggestions readily available in the market or the official website of the Teacher's Eligibility Test examination committee?
TET, a special examination for schoolteachers under the National Council for Teacher's Education (NCTE) is being held in the state for the first time, most likely in October. The examination aims at providing a planned and co-ordinated development of teachers.
The guidebooks, published by some local publishers, priced between Rs 200 and 250 are finding many takers. Anjali Das, a TET aspirant, said, "For the first time such an exam is being conducted in the state and we have no clue about the questions. It would be best if we could find some study material to prepare ourselves. There is no point in trying to find out which book has been prescribed by the committee and which one has not been recommended."
