Exclusive hostel for NE working women
Assam Tribune | New Delhi, June 1:
Girls and women hailing from the North-East, who often find themselves on the receiving end in the national capital, at last have a reason to cheer, as a new 500-seater working women’s hostel is ready for use. The hostel exclusively for those hailing from the North East would be inaugurated in June.
The 500-seater working women’s hostel in Jasola has been funded by Ministry of DoNER through the North Eastern Council (NEC) in association with the Ministry of Women and Child Development. The project is estimated to cost Rs.17.44 crore with NEC sharing 25per cent of cost. Land cost for the hostel has been shared between NEC and Ministry of Women and Child Development on a 50-50 basis.
The Project is likely to be completed within this financial year. It is located at Dhaka Housing Complex, University of Delhi, Banda Bahadur Marg, New Delhi. NEC has already released Rs 11.50 crore towards this hostel project.
Apart from these two hostels, there is already a fully functional 500-seater girl hostel at Delhi University North Campus wholly funded by Ministry of DoNER.
