English Bye
Kshetrimayum Dipti *
Decades passed by,
She waits for an audience.
Her lace veil covers her stealthy eyes,
White gloves and smooth silk gown
Did hug tight ,
Her slender stature ;
Envy of every lass.
Early time of the year or dead end,
She plots with the pale moon,
knocks at the glass pane
And trots on the misty lake.
Inhabitants of the thatched house near by,
Brave in their stance,
Look as the waning moon
Swallows the dreamy silhouette.
Empress of the world behind the perforated veil'
She lives in the mind of many,
Casts a shadowless sheen;
A muse to more or a spectre of gore.
An intrigue of our history,
English bride of English Bye;
Wouldn't bid an easy bye.
