Guwahati, May 25, 2016: The Edutainment Show, one-of-its-kind summit and exhibition of media, communication and design education and career options, will be held for the first time in the Northeast on Saturday May 28 and Sunday May 29 at the Maniram Dewan Trade Centre. The Show, in its fourth year, was organized at Mumbai, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, New Delhi and Kolkata before being organized in Guwahati, for the very first time. It is being organized by the Event Capital, a division of Laqshya Media Group, Mumbai.
Regarded as India's largest creative education exhibition and summit, 'The Edutainment Show', aims to help students in opting for careers in media, communication and design besides giving them a chance to attend workshops and discussion sessions with more than 50 industry stalwarts. The Show is entry free and will start with a session on "Creating Responsible Media and Communication Culture in Northeast" at 9 am on Saturday May 26.
Industry experts like advertising guru Prahlad Kakad, television producer Raghu Ram, short filmmaker and founder of Shamiana film movement Cyrus Dastur, Femina Miss India 2016 Priyadarshini Chatterjee; actor Baharul Islam, Barsha Rani Bishaya, Rabi Sharma; singer Alobo Naga, Padmanav Bordoloi, Queen Hazarika; internationally acclaimed tattoo artist and researcher Mo Naga, photographer and founder of UB Photos Utpal Baruah, wildlife photographer and biologist Udayan Borthakur, and a host of other experts will be present for panel discussions and workshops over the two-day event.
The Show will bring together veterans and field experts to share real life examples about the growing relevance and potential of each sector creating an one-stop platform of fun and an educational experience of a lifetime for the aspirants.
Elaborating on the Show, the Edutainment Content Director Prof. Ujjwal Kumar Chowdhury, noted, "The Edutainment is a unique concept of blending education with entertainment and encouraging youths towards creative careers. Going ahead, we are bringing India's leading media and design education providers to Assam for interacting with the youths and guiding them, like Amity University, Symbiosis University, DSK International, NICC Bengaluru, NSHM Kolkata, ILEAD Kolkata, ISDI Mumbai, et al." Prof Chowdhury is the also the Director of Unitedworld Institute of Media & Communication, and also the former Dean, Amity University, Mumbai, has been the former Director, Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication & Dean, SIU, Pune as well as former Dean, Whistling Woods School of Communication, Mumbai.
Addressing the media gathering at the Press Club on Wednesday, Prof. Chowdhury said that the platform is a must visit for students who wish to pursue careers in media, communications and design industry.
Also present on the occasion were celebrated singer Padmanav Bordoloi and graphic designer and photographer Arpan Kalita who will be participating in different talk sessions during The Edutainment Show.
Padmanav Borodoloi will conduct a session on "Communicating the folk to the contemporary World" at The Edutainment show. "The Edutainment Show is an excellent program exhibiting media, communication and design education where youngsters can find various media related career options through workshops and interactive sessions. Moreover, it is an apt platform for young students who are confused at certain point of their lives regarding what career option to choose. The edutainment show will guide the students who seek to build a career in media, communication or design in a proper direction. I am glad to be part of such a wonderful endeavour", he said.
Speaking to the media during the press conference, Arpan Kalita said, "The Edutainment Show: the biggest media, communication and design career summit is a very welcome step to the Media, Communication and Design Industry. It's often seen that in our region we, probably because of lack of information or the knowledge of scope involved in this field, we tend to end up studying and doing things which we do not have any interest or very less interest in. This will provide the much needed exposure to the students who want to pursue a career in these fields. With so many prominent experts from various media fields, I'm sure this will definitely benefit the youth." Arpan will participate in a panel discussion titled "A Thousand Words: Photography for Pleasure and Profession" where he will share insights on how an amateur photographer can hone his skills to become a professional.
The two day event by Event Capital will see the top schools and institutes across verticals like journalism, photography, fashion, PR, advertising, events, radio, television, jewellery design, graphic design, animation design, architecture showcasing their courses through an intensive platform that reaches out to the students exclusively.
