DoNER revamp on cards - Panel suggests ways to improve ministry efficiency

The Centre has decided to review the DoNER ministry’s functioning and work out ways and means to improve its efficiency, a parliamentary panel report submitted yesterday said.
The same panel had suggested in a previous report that the ministry should be under the Prime Minister's Office, a recommendation that drew opposition from Northeast MPs. Now it has suggested overhauling of the ministry, which is largely seen to be a “post office” with few discretionary powers.
