Disabled tribals threaten stir over certificate demand
Times of India | TNN | Jun 4, 2011, 12.07pm IST
ATDUM alleged the state government and the medical board has failed to address the plight of PWDs in obtaining disability certificates. Many physically challenged people living in remote areas could not obtain disability certificates as they face difficulties in coming all the way to Imphal to get it, the union said in a statement.
Taking into account complaints raised by physically challenged teachers pertaining to their posting at far flung schools, the union appealed to the Autonomous District Councils (ADCs) of the hill districts to post such teachers at their respective villages or the nearest place available.
Manipur youth affairs and sports minister DD Thaisii, on the inaugural day of the game, said the government would extend all possible help to enhance sports activities and other schemes for PWDs.
