Director General Assam Rifles Visits Manipur ; with CM of Manipur N Biren Singh
Lieutenant General Shokin Chauhan, AVSM, YSM, SM, VSM, Director General Assam Rifles, arrived in the state on a three-day visit to HQ IGAR (South) from 28 to 30 April 2017. The DGAR was briefed on the prevailing security situation in the state by Major General Virendra Singh, VSM, Inspector General Assam Rifles (South).
The DGAR accompanied by IGAR (South) called on Her Excellency Dr Najma Heptulla, honorable Governor of Manipur on 28th April 2017. During the meeting lasting more than 40 minutes, several important issues involving the state were discussed.

The DGAR was also the chief guest at the Curtain Raiser of OORJA’ U-19 Football Talent Hunt Tournament 2017. While addressing the enthusiastic audience present in the stadium, the DGAR reiterated that Assam Rifles is committed to implementing the great vision of our honourable Prime Minister i.e. ‘Mission 11 Million’ for promoting the game of football and showcasing the hidden talent of Manipur.
On 29th April, the DGAR interacted with the veterans of Assam Rifles in IGAR (South). He heard the various grievances of the veterans and also updated them with information pertaining to initiatives and policies instituted by the MHA for their welfare.
The DGAR also called on the Hon’ble CM of Manipur Shri N Biren Singh on 30 April 2017 and conveyed his warm greetings & good wishes to the people of Manipur. The DGAR also discussed the security and law & order situation in the state with the Hon’ble CM and assured him of full cooperation by Assam Rifles to the state administration.
