Delhi Samaritans rescue NE student
The Telegraph | Nishit Dholabhai | New Delhi, Sept 23:
A couple rescued a student from Manipur here last night, presenting the humane face of the national capital that has fetched notoriety for racial bias towards people from the Northeast.
The previous day, Ramsen Ningshen, 19, a first-year arts student of Delhi University had gone missing from his Vikaspuri house. His family, which hails from Manipur's Ukhrul district, has been in Delhi for a decade. His father Samuel Hungyo, who works for a finance company, had called in almost a hundred students from the community to look for his son, who was mentally disturbed for a few days.
"From the way he talked, we could gauge he was not well mentally but we guessed he belonged to the Northeast," said Lal. The couple then took the lad home and fed him before looking up for a "missing" report on the Internet. Checking out different spellings of his name, they found the missing report on a website and looked up his address.
