DG IIMC & ADG IIS visit Manipur on April 17 2017
The Director General of Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) Shri KG Suresh and Additional Director General of Indian Information Services (IIS) Shri Mayank Agarwal alongwith with a group of 15 Group ‘A’ Trainee Officers of IIS are visiting Manipur from 15 to 20 Apr 2017.
The visit was scheduled as part of orientation and familiarization program for the trainee Officers organized with assistance from Assam Rifles. The Trainee Officers belonging to different parts of the country accompanied by Professor Rinku Pegu, Coordinator will experience the unique culture & history of Manipur for the first time. The group was briefed on the history, culture and prevailing situation in Manipur at HQ IGAR (S) on 17 Apr 2017.

A media interaction was organized at Mantripukhri in which Sh KG Suresh, DG IIMC interacted with the media. During the press interaction, the DG briefed the invitees on the activities of his institution. IIMC is the premiere training institute for students of mass communication in the country, rated as the best institute on the subject by the Week Magazine.
The students of IIMC are heading important appointments in Doordarshan, All India Radio as well as other Government departments. He further added that IIMC is in the process of establishing its Nodal Centre in Aizawl which will be the Nodal institution for the entire North Eastern region. He expressed hope that IIMC in near future could facilitate training of the local journalists as per the latest trends and practices prevailing in the world. He sought co-operation of the State Government and AMWJU towards this end.
The DG (IIMC) Shri KG Suresh and ADG IIS Shri Mayank Agrawal left for Delhi on 17 April 2017 conveying their satisfaction for a fruitful learning experience and gratitude to the Manipuri media for its commendable work in the most challenging environment. The group of Trainee Officers shall be visiting various part of Manipur with cultural and historical significance including Moreh, Moirang, Loktak Lake & Imphal till 20 Apr 17.
