Cry Of A Dying River...57
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that flows in the land of peculiar people
People who are damn good at pointing fingers
People who are found terribly wanting at appreciating others
The river that flows in the land of crabish mentality
People who love pulling down one another
People who loathe giving the devil its due
The river that flows in the land of hypocrites
Hypocrites who say one thing and do the opposite
The river that is the intended victim of hypocrisy.
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that flows in the land of 'bandh blockades'
A bandh a blockade every alternate day
A counter bandh a counter blockade every alternate week
The river that flows in the land of 'Ani-Thokpi' culture
A culture that divides people within and without the state
A culture that leaves no space for creative thinking
The river that flows in the land of ironies and paradoxes
Oh Mother Manipur! Thy own Nambul a-once-nimble Nambul
Is dying a slow painful death.
