Cry Of A Dying River...33
Rajendra Kshetri *
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that flows in an obscure region of the ' third world'
A world mercilessly exploited by the 'first world'
The river that flows in a tiny corner of India
A 'third world' country which accords scant respect
To a river of the same third world country
A river that deserves as much respect as the Ganga the Brahmaputra the Cauvery the Godavari
The river so small but not envious of the rivers mighty
The Amazon the Thames the Seine
A river is a river is a river is a river.
I am no longer the river I was once
The river that wishes to be left alone
Untouched by the human hands
The river that desires to flow freely
Uninterrupted by pollutants of all kinds
The river that dreams of an environment
Untroubled by greedy ideas of corporatisation
The river that imagines an oasis of peace
Undisturbed by violence and war
Beautiful is the river that envisages a world of clean environment.
