Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India in a joint initiative with the International Chamber for Service Industry (ICSI) is organizing an International Conference: Strengthening Aviation Network Between North East Region (India) & BCLMV Countries: Gateway to Services Exports on Tuesday, 1st August 2017 at Radisson Blu Hotel, Guwahati (Assam).
The event is enriched through the invaluable participation of the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, Airports Authority of India, Directorate General of Civil Aviation as well as Indian and international air carriers and other leading aviation business entities including BCLMV Countries. The idea and intent of this conference is to enhance air connectivity within the NER and to boost the bilateral and multilateral relations between North East India and Bangladesh, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam (BCLMV countries) by building a strong aviation network, augmenting and improving travel, trade and people to people contact thereby bringing our nations closer than ever before.
As Air connectivity and Tourism shares a bond, therefore the connectivity provided by air transport will facilitates the tourism industry in NER(I). Tourism as a service industry can play a role in supporting sustainable economic growth among the regions and for cultural linkages. India’s trade with the BCLMV countries has grown faster over the past few years. The volume of bilateral trade between India and Bangladesh stood at about US$7.4 billion in 2016-17, while India’s trade with the CLMV countries was US$ 12.69 billion in the same year.
As a vital cog in the wheels of India’s economic progress, the NER and BCLMV countries are natural partners to participate in this growth story and realize the huge potential the region affords for tourism, trade, commerce and services exports. The Government of India continues to be a beacon of guidance with superlative initiatives such as the tri-lateral highway, air and surface connectivity improvements in the NER, the Act East policy and other major steps to foster and promote close and friendly ties with our neighbours in the East.
Keeping in view of the importance of this initiative, we extend a very warm invitation to you to grace the occasion and cover the event. A copy Conf. brochure and ICSI Profile is enclosed for kind perusal.
