Best DLSA award to Churachandpur DLSA

Manipur State Legal Services Authority organized the Commendation Ceremony of best Para Legal Volunteer (PLV), best Panel Lawyer, best District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) for the year, 2020 on 27th February, 2021 at Conference Hall, ADR Centre, Lamphelpat.

The event was aimed at felicitating the best District Legal Services Authority, Panel Lawyer and Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) in the state for their service and contribution to the cause of 'Access to Justice' and in recognition of their activities during the COVID pandemic and lockdown period

Best Panel Lawyer Award to Kh. Lembisana

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Kh. Nobin Singh, Executive Chairman of Manipur State Legal Services Authority; Smt. Golmei Gaiphulshillu, Member Secretary, MASLSA & Shri Ojesh Mutum Addl. Sessions Judge, Fast Track Court, Crime Against Women, Manipur presided as presidium members of the dais. Chairperson and Secretaries of District Legal Services Authorities, Panel Lawyers, PLVs & staff of Legal Services Authorities participated the function.

The award for best District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) for the year, 2020 was awarded to Churachandpur District Legal Services Authority with certificate and memento for the commendable legal services activities with the use of innovative methods and digital mechanism during the year, 2020.

The prize for second best DLSA was awarded to Senapati DLSA for the commendable legal services activities during COVID19 pandemic including distribution of ration to the migrant workers and other victims of lockdown.

Best PLV award to Md. Islahuddin given by Hon'ble Justice Kh. Nobin

The award for best Para Legal Volunteer was given to Mohammed Islahuddin, PLV of Legal Aid Clinic, Kwakta, Bishnupur; Second best PLV was awarded to Golmei Pouhoilung, PLV of Legal Aid Clinic, Noney & the award for third best PLV was given jointly to Maibam Purnimashi Devi, PLV of Legal Aid Clinic, Manipur State Commission for Women & Konthoujam Tendenba, PLV of Legal Aid Clinic, Andro.

The award for best Panel Lawyer was given to Khoisanam Lembisana Meidingu, Panel Lawyer of Thoubal DLSA. The award for second best Panel Lawyer was given to L. Pinky Devi, Panel Lawyer of Imphal West DLSA and third best Panel Lawyer was awarded to Ningnim YL, Panel Lawyer of Ukhrul DLSA.

Second Best DLSA award given to Senapati DLSA by Smt. Golmei Gaiphulshillu

Further, Special Mention was made to Chandel DLSA & Legal Aid Clinics of Jiribam for encouraging court based legal aid work during lockdown & for outstanding work during COVID19 pandemic.

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Kh. Nobin Singh, Executive Chairman, MASLSA appreciated the work done by PLVs and Panel Lawyers in translating into action the policies and programmes of NALSA. His Lordship highlighted the key roles and responsibilities of the PLVs in providing legal aid and assistance to the vulnerable and marginalized people and those living under Below Poverty Line.

His Lordship also highlighted that there are numerous welfare schemes of the government available in Manipur. However, general public are not fully aware of such schemes and the intended beneficiaries face various hurdles in availing the benefit of those schemes.

Here lies the role & importance of Para Legal Volunteers in providing awareness, support and assistance in making the entitled beneficiaries in availing their due rights & benefits.
