Child abuse increasing in North-east

Concerns were expressed against increasing trafficking of children, child labour and different forms of exploitation that a child is subjected to by participants and resource persons at a programme organized by the National Institute of Public Cooperation and Child Development recently. This sensitization training for media personnel on issues relating to child rights and protection dwelt at length on the concept of child rights, different challenges emerging in the wake of situational crisis and took an overview of important legislations for child rights protection.
A resource person at the training programme, journalist Samudra Gupta Kashyap spoke on the situational analysis of children in India with special reference to North East India. He said that children in the North East have suffered violence and exploitations and urged upon all authorities concerned and stake holders to address the issues of the children.
