Chess champ moots academy in Manipur

Top seed Rk. Apollosana Singh today mooted a chess academy to tap the budding talents in the state at the prize distribution of the recently concluded 16th Y. Nilamani Memorial Chess Tournament held at Manipur College in Singjamei.
Apollosana, who emerged the champion of the meet, said there is a need to set up a chess academy to encourage emerging players.
Inter-school football: S. Romeo Singh guided Nilamani English School, Imphal West, to the semi-final with a solitary goal win in the Under-14 Boys’ Inter-School Football Tournament for Subroto Mukherjee Trophy at Khuman Lampak main stadium.
In the other matches, Cambridge English School Jiribam blanked Don Bosco Tamenglong by three goals but both failed to make it to the semi-final. L. Samson scored all the three goals. Maram Government Junior High School held Ukhrul Higher Secondary School to a 1-1 draw.
