Centre unlikely to accept NSCN-IM demand
Assam Tribune | New Delhi, July 19
Conscious of the ground realities, the Centre is unlikely to accept the NSCN (I-M)’s demand for unification of Naga inhabited areas, while guaranteeing territorial integrity of Assam, Manipur and Arunachal Pradesh.
Sources said the Centre is willing to guarantee maximum autonomy to Nagaland under various provisions of the Constitution, to resolve the vexed Naga problem.
The Naga outfit has proposed a federal relationship with the Centre with additional financial and legislative powers, while the Government of India is keen to offer financial package for socio- cultural development of Naga people, said sources.
