BSNL mulls internet for NE via Bangladesh

With the entire northeast depending on Kolkata and the passage through the congested 'Chicken's neck' for internet connectivity, the BharatSancharNigam Limited (BSNL) has considered broadband connection for the region through neighbouring Bangladesh.
There is already an existing optical international fibre link between Kolkata and Dhaka, which falls short of just 8 km from capital of Tripura Agartala from the international border, general manager Telecom George Santosh Marshall said at a media briefing here on Tuesday.
