Assam, Manipur nod to Lajong
The Telegraph | Shillong, Aug. 4:
The Assam Football Association and the All-Manipur Football Association have given Shillong Lajong FC the green signal to utilise their venues as home grounds for the upcoming I-League championships beginning in October this year.
Last month, Shillong Lajong, the only outfit from the Northeast in the I-League campaign, had opted for two venues in Assam and another in Manipur as its home venues if the laying of the artificial turf at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here was not completed by October.
“Now, a team from the All-India Football Federation will have to inspect both the venues before finalising the stadium,” the source said, while adding that Shillong Lajong was ready to play in either Silchar or Imphal.
Though the Imphal venue does not have floodlights, the turnout during football matches is impressive.
