Akademi award for NE authors

Three persons from the Northeast have won the Sahitya Akademi Award for translation for the year 2014. Bipul Deori (in Assamese) for translating English novel The Immortals of Meluha by Amish Tripathi, Surath Narzary (in Bodo) for translating Geetanjali by Rabindranath Tagore and Ibotombi Mangang (in Manipuri) for translating Noukadubi by Rabindranath Tagore have been selected for the award.
"The prize carries an amount of Rs 50,000 and a copper plaque which will be presented to the translators of each of these books at a special function to be held sometime later this year," the statement added.
