TODAY -
A lone night traveller
Depiya Thoudam *
The night gets longer
My walking pace gets slower
Rocky and less travelled road
The only route of the night
The destination is not in sight
Am I lost or it is just far flung?
For sure I took the right direction.
To keep my apprehensions at bay
Multiple times I pulled out my compass,
Making sure the needle is right.
As night becomes darker
Keeping up becomes harder
Darkness is not what scares me
It’s the voices asking me to return home
Been acting deaf though I heard them all
Returning now won't make sense at all
Still the destination is not sight
Am I lost or it is far flung?
For sure I took the right direction.
