Assam Rifles shares Independence day festivities with Myanmar army
As a part of 71st Independence Day, 11 Assam Rifles of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated the festivities of Independence Day with our friends of Myanmar Army.
In a major step that will foster the bond of mutual respect and friendship with each other, A number of Army officials of the neighbouring Myanmar Army battalion looking after the Indo - Myanmar border attended festivities organised at Moreh.

The Myanmar Army delegation was part of routine Indo Myanmar post level meeting held at Moreh/Tamu on monthly bases. The commanding officers of 11 Assam Rifles and 87 LIR from Myanmar side along with several senior officials from both side attended the function.
A number of cultural and sports events were followed by barakhana for all dignitaries and troops from both sides. Efforts were made to streamline procedures to resolve volatile issues and strengthening mutual co-operation. The event culminated with a vote of thanks from the guests.

In a similar endeavour, 31 Assam Rifles of 10 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) has taken another step ahead to strengthen the relationship with Myanmar after post level friendly matches. Assam Rifles deployed on Indo Myanmar Border celebrated Independence Day with a great fervour and invited guests from across the border, local villagers to share the joy and pride with all.
At the outset flag hosting and National Anthem was conducted followed by distribution of sweets by Assam Rifles personnel deployed in Nampisha to Myanmar Army personnel and civilians.
Souvenir was presented to Myanmar Army personnel for being guest of honour of the Independence Day 2017. The event culminated with a joint Barakhana for Myanmar Army personnel, civilians and own troops. Myanmar Army extended a vote of thanks to Assam Rifles and all civilians by wishing a very happy Independence Day to all and the nation.
