AIFF team to visit Manipur
The Telegraph | Imphal, Aug. 10:
A team of officials from the All-India Football Federation and the Asian Federation Confederation is likely to visit Manipur next week to assess the ground feasibility at Khuman Lampak Main Stadium in view of FC Lajong’s request to use it as their home turf in the forthcoming I-League tournament.
The All-Manipur Football Association secretary, L. Ranjit Roy, confirming the visit, said, “If the team finds the ground favourable and gives the go-ahead to FC Lajong, it will be a big boost for football lovers of the state. They will be able to watch some of the top teams in action.
The AIFF had told FC Lajong to forgo the I-League if the ground was not ready or available. On the other hand, the 6th Manipur State League 2011-12, slated for an August 12 opening, is likely to be deferred because of the conditions after heavy downpour over the past week.
Badminton: The Manipur Badminton Association will be holding the 30th Inter-District and the 56th State Badminton Championship, from August 23-28 at the MBA Indoor Hall in DM College.
