Imphal, April 14: In protest against the killing of a 19-year old youth by unidentified persons at Nungba Bazar under Nungba Police Station last night, the JAC formed in connection with the incident has called a bandh along National Highway-53 (Imphal-Jiribam Road) with effect from today.

The youth identified as Gaithao-khuanbow (19) son of Gaithanglung of Nungba Part-II was reportedly beaten to death by the unidentified persons last night.

The body of the youth has been taken away after post-mortem examination at RIMS morgue here today.

In protest against the incident, the JAC imposed a bandh along the said National Highway stretch with effect from 11 am today till 11 am tomorrow.

Following the bandh, vehicular traffic along the route remained to a grinding halt today.
