Many more decry blast at World Vision office

Imphal, November 28: There has been no let up to the condemnation of the bomb blast carried out by activists of the proscribed PULF at the office of World Vision India, Ukhrul ADP at Maringlane here on Nov 20.It is very unfortunate that the office of World Vision India UKhrul ADP was attacked, said a joint statement of SHGs of Ukhrul district.

Condemning such violent incident, the joint statement said World Vision India is a Christian humanitarian organisation working to create lasting change in the lives of children, families and communities living in poverty and injustice regardless of religion, caste, race, ethnicity or gender.

The joint statement was signed by chairman/secretary of Hormei SHG of Hongbei, chairperson of Solan SHG of Kasom Khulen, secretary of Soyar SHG of Kasom Khullen, chairman of Mashum SHG of Kasom Khulen, secretary of Ngachonmi SHG of Kasom Khullen, secretary of Shemshem SHG of Hisoram, secretary of Anami SHG of Hisoram, secretary of Semrei SHG of Khamlang, chairperson of Maiya SHG of Yeason, secretary of Naorin SHG of Kasom Khullen , chairman of Rethui SHG of Kasom Khullen, chairman of Sopem SHG of Kasom Khulen, secretary of Holy SHG of Hisoram, secretary of Child SHG of Hisoram and chairperson of Zema SHG of Khamlang.

In another joint statement, Village Development Committees (VDCs) of Lungtoram, Yeasom, Chongdan, Hisoram, Khunthak and Hongbei expressed deepest shock over the bomb attack at the office of World Vision India and asked whether it was the kind of treatment given to a Christian humanitarian organisation which has been dedicating itself to the welfare of 86 villages inhabited by Meiteis, Kukis, Koms, Kharams and Tangkhuls.

On the other hand, an emergency meeting of the Village Development Forum, Chandel was convened on November 25 to strongly condemned the bomb attack at the office of World Vision India located at Maringlane, according to a statement jointly issued by its present RD Zenith and secretary A Waanglar.

Describing the attack on a world-wide humanitarian organisations working for the cause of the people as an act of cowardice, the joint statement said that the Forum also supports and encourages the World Vision not to cowdown by such cowardly attack.
